| Skyler's fielding is impressive. He gets good jumps on balls off the bat whether he has to come in on balls or back on them. His reads on line drives are good and seldom does he make bad judgements on these types of hits. An area that he is working on right now is his routes to groundballs. At times he doesn't get around balls so that his momentum and direction are on line with his throwing target. | ||

| Skyler hits pitches up in the zone very well to all fields. When the ball is down in the zone he lets the middle/away pitch get deep in the zone and can drive it. The pitch he is working on right now is the low and in. He tends to get tied up with this pitch and rolls over on it. Overall his hitting mechanics are a good foundation and ready for the next step. | |||
| Skyler has a sports history of high level hockey. He competes very well and takes instruction to heart. He made the move to baseball as his full time sport in Sept/07 and has made huge strides since then. His work ethic on the field and in the weight room is impressive, always wanting to work harder each day. When it comes to the mental part of the game whether its pitch recognition when he's hitting, how pitchers are setting him up at the plate, or recognizing types of hitters when he's in the outfield and how he is going to position himself is also improving. |
